School starts in 3 days–
it has been a wonderful summer but I think we are all ready, kids included!
Our kids have to wear simple uniforms to school-
navy, white or red polos with khaki or navy pants, shorts, skirts and jumpers with no logos.
I grew up in a “rich kid” community but our family wasn’t able to afford the expensive and “popular” brands, and in high school I remember being a bit envious at times of other girls clothes. I totally appreciate the uniforms at our kids schools- for the most part everyone looks the same (plus it doesn’t take a lot of thinking to pick them out each morning).
When Caleb started school 9 years ago all of his uniform clothes went in his closet but I quickly realized that wasn’t a good choice for us– on a busy morning he wouldn’t be able to find something in his messy closet, or even worse everything was dirty (MEGA MOM FAIL!)
I decided I needed to keep his school clothes in the laundry room so I could control them better.
So many years ago I bought a clothing rack from Wal-Mart and it sits in the corner of our laundry room,
and now all 4 of our kids uniforms are hung on it straight from the dryer and it has worked GREAT!
I organize them youngest to oldest in red, white and blue patterns and their school shoes sit under the rack.
Every morning, before waking the kids up, I grab an outfit for each kid and throw it in the dryer with a downy sheet. After the kids shower they come down and pull their clothes fresh and warm from the dryer– which they LOVE.
BONUS- I never have to iron them, the dryer de-wrinkles them for me!
Do you have a morning routine for your kids? I’d love to hear!
