found by the seashore. (new piece giveaway!)

Untitled
When we went to Florida a few weeks ago we collected a bunch of shells.
We took one of our favorites and turned it into a new necklace-
it’s beautifully hand molded with great detail-
you can still feel the ridges of the original shell!
I love being able to take a piece of the beach
(one of my favorite places that I don’t see often since I live in Oklahoma!)
with me everyday!

These necklaces are ready to ship!

Let’s give one away!!!
Just tell us about your favorite beach to be entered—
facebook, twitter, pin the piece for extra entries
(please leave us a separate comment for each).

Happy friday!

  6. Marian Hartzog says:

This is a lovely piece. Going to spend time at the beach always involved picking up shells no matter what size, shape, or condition they were in. My favorite were the ones like you made into a necklace because they always came with a “ready made hole” to turn into a necklace or bracelet. I usually would use thread or thin string to make something and my creation would end up lost, but the memories of it last forever. Kudos on creating something to commemorate a vacation!

The most memorable beach for me…..during my teenage years, I went with my family to Akumal, Mexico 62 miles south of Cancún. The beach was beautiful – “white sand” and crystal clear ocean water. I collected sand dollars and shells. The most lasting impression was when I witnessed a huge sea turtle lay her eggs. A few nights later we also go to see a group of turtle hatchlings struggle to get to the sea.

Your necklace is a simple and beautiful tribute to the ocean and all its wonders.

    What an amazing piece…

I would say any beach that I am with my daughter is my favorite. She is definately my little mermaid…

I have taken her to Crook’s Bridge Beach at Cape Cod, it is located on the bayside which is great because when the tide goes out there are areas that water has remained… She loved to walk along in look at all the creatures that were in the little pools… She especially loved the little crabs.

We took her to another beach located in Plymouth, MA. That was a great beach! We were able to wander along and collect shells and sea glass. On the way home Rylee made up stores about each of the items that we collected.

We have many great memories at the beach!

Good luck to all who entered…

My favorite beach is…every one I’ve ever been to…because that usually means I’m in r-e-l-a-x mode. I appreciate the subtle nuisances of east coast vs. west coast, tropical versus downright arctic. What remains the same is the waves…their constancy and the way they calm my mind and never fail to relax me.

  169. Angie Buckner says:

My favorite beach is in St. Thomas, Magen’s Bay. It is gorgeous!!

If I have to choose a favorite beach, it would be the one in Pacifica, CA near the pier. We’ve perfected it now. =)

I am located in South Eastern MA where there are varies beaches with in a 30 min radius. My favorite is a tiny piece of beach located in Fairhaven, MA. I have been going there for over 15 years. It is unknown to the public and is only known to the people in the local area. You can always see someone you know, and it is safe for bringing little kids or big kids as they are always in an eyes view. It is perfect during low tides as the water is warm, and the kids have a great time catching tiny fish and digging for Hermit Crabs. During this time the water is at is calmness and with the glare of the Sun it makes the water appear to be one sheet of glass. Simply beautiful! I have so many memories with my children from this tiny little area of the sea that I will cherish always. I have already brought my new baby girl who is already the center of attention at the beach. Summer is such a wonderful time!

  207. Mary Grace says:

Favorite beach – hands down – Clearwater, FL.

  208. I live on the beautiful west coast of Canada, in British Columbia. My favourite beach is in Port Renfrew, on Vancouver Island. It’s pretty remote-you have to hike 2 hrs. to get to it, which we did on our 20th anniversary in the pouring rain, 2 years ago. I have physical challenges, because I live with Multiple Sclerosis, but it was *SO* worth the hike-wild, crashing ocean and sea stacks awaited us. The roar of the ocean was so loud, we had to holler to hear one another. That place will always be special to me because getting there to see that was a challenge for me, but I DID IT! Nothing worth having ever comes easy, but that’s what makes accomplishing it all the more satisfying.

This necklace is BEAUTIFUL! *fingers crossed*

  209. Samantha R. says:

  214. Julie F says:

I love Holly Beach in Louisiana. The last time I visited was the week before Katrina. It was pretty much leveled. I miss the family time there.

  355. Tasha says:

My favorite beach is Law Street in San Diego, just 2 blocks from the house I lived in as a little girl. We could see the ocean from our front yard. So many good memories there.

If I win this, I’ll give it to my grandma, who loves the ocean and took me to it so many times as a child.

  356. Chrissy says:

My very favorite beach is Clearwater, FL. I miss living in Central Florida…we were smack between both coasts. While Clearwater is my favorite, we also liked Melbourne Beach on the Atlantic Side. My husband grew up in Hollywood, FL so he has fond memories of that beach.

  357. Allison says:

This would be perfect for my mom, who truly loves the beach. Spending a week in various rented beach houses full of extended family have been part of my life for all 21 of my years. This year it is the Outer Banks and I can’t wait! (Plus, it means a week off of college summer classes! Woo hoo!)

  358. Barbara says:

We went to “the beach” for our summer holidays every year… For many years that was in Calabria, Southern Italy (a long “are we there yet” road trip down from Milano)… The beach was made of volcanic rock and had many pools with amazing sea life: colourful fish, small crabs, algae, sea urchins… There was great snorkeling too and, off towards the horizon, you could see a small vulcano (luckily, inactive for many years). When I was a bit older, “the beach” changed every summer and throughout the summer as we travelled first all along the Italian coast and then from the Italian & French Riviera over into Spain… long road trips but with beautiful views and with the reward of feeling sand between my toes and the smell & taste of the sea at the end of each day!

  359. Rebecca says:

My fav beach would be up in northern Ontario, basically any of the beaches on a lake, Northern Ontario is beautiful no matter where you go! I would love to visit a beach in Hawaii or Bora Bora, maybe some day :)

All the beaches in Anguilla. We went on our honeymoon last spring and the sand was so fine and silky. The water was crystal blue and bathtub temp. There were times when we would be laying on the beach and look left and then right and see no one else, perfection!

  370. Piper says:

For the first 1.5 years of our marriage David and I lived on a beach on a tiny island in the Indian Ocean. The street was even called “Beach Front.” We faced many trials living in that part of the world as newly weds and ESL teachers, but I could always get away from the day to day stresses by walking across that tiny street and sticking my feet in the clear blue water. I still go there often in my mind.

My favorite beach by far, is Akumal Beach “Turtle Bay” in Akumal, Mexico! On this scenic stretch of pure white sand you can swim with the sea turtles. Just a few yards out, munching on sea grass, you can find these beautiful docile creatures! The turtles come to this protected beach every year to mate and lay their eggs. We were just there in May and it was a dream come true!! I got to mark one off my “bucket list.” AMAZING!!

Nyack Beach State Park along the Hudson. It’s only really a beach in name, as the pebbled shoreline is hardly the white sands of Aruba, but one can always pretend! And in the first weeks of June when the honeysuckle blooms and a black lab jumps in to chase a piece of driftwood, it’s pretty perfect.

My favorite beach is St. Augustine, FL. While it is breathtaking, my memory for this very special place is much more beautiful. I was in St. Augustine, FL the day I received the phone call to tell me I was a mother for the first time. I grew up vacationing there with my family and happened to be on vacation with my husband and parents when I was called and told that we’d been selected as the parents for a 2lb 13 oz little miracle in the NICU, my daughter Kate. There aren’t enough words in the dictionary to express how marvelous that day was and I’ll never forget the tears of happiness that was shed by my entire family. My husband and I call that our second home…for there we became 3. The next time we went we had adopted our second daughter and our entire family was able to go and celebrate. I am the mom of two beautiful miracles….love the necklace….

The first time I ever saw the ocean was on a little rocky beach near Brookings, Oregon. That was at least 20 years ago but I can still picture it like it was yesterday. This piece reminds me of one of my most cherished childhood memories with my Mom: collecting shells around Pismo Beach, CA. As native Californians, one might think we spent a lot of time at the beach growing up, but we didn’t really. When we did go, it was something very special. My Mom & I would scour the beach together looking for the perfect treasure. Our favorite spot was an area known as Shell Beach, an unincorporated area of Pismo Beach. Perhaps our greatest find was a large Abalone shell that we found back in the 70′s on one of our excursions. To this day, I still have that shell. Now that I’m grown & live in Texas, that seems so long ago & far away, but I always have that shell to take me back in my mind.

So happy that you enjoyed Florida, we welcome tourists and I do hope you were well received in our state.
My favorite beach is Indian Rocks Beach on the Gulf Coast near Tampa, Florida. I like it because it’s calm and beautiful.
Also, Pinellas County is their county and the government does such worth while accomplishments with their funds.
One year they had a “penny for Pinellas” campaign and with the monies recieved, they were able to enhance all of the beach accesses with water faucets, benches, paved parking and nice cool trees. Next visit to Florida, you ought to try Indian Rocks Beach….it’s beautiful. I just placed my first order for a necklace with your company. Tks Bette

  685. Leanna says:

    Naples, FL :)

  695. Darla Younb says:

My favorite beach would have to be the beach at Jekyll Island, GA. These are natural living habitats. Lots of hermit crabs and we actually saw several dolphins. You could take nighttime guided trips to visit nesting turtles. We rented bikes and rode around the island. My kids thoroughly enjoyed it, as did I. This was the last beach my Mother ever saw alive so it has extra special meaning to me.

  696. Lisa says:

Love the beach in Carlsbad, Ca. We have built many cool sandcastles and found oodles of shells, some of which hang in our garden. Two of my newer favorites, though, are Pismo Beach and Moonstone Beach, central coast,Ca. Lots of precious memories with my honey and little Pnut.

My favorite beach was one in Benin, West Africa… you couldn’t swim due to dangerous water currents, but at night you could drag your fingers through the sand and see it sparkle with bioluminescent bacteria. We wore our headlamps and played ultimate frisbee on the beach that night…

  703. Destin Beach or Cape Canaveral National Seashore in FL!

I love ANY beach, but I have a new favorite, my son recently moved to Charleston, SC, and while I was visiting, he took me by boat to a place called DeeWee’s Island. The beach is very natural, pleanty of shells and other treasures from the sea to be found, and you can sit on the shore and watch the dolphins play! I have been looking for a piece like this, and would love to add it to my Vintage Pearl collection!

  719. eva van dyke says:

  720. My favorite beach would be Saquarema, Brazil (near Rio). You can’t really get in the water too much, but watching the 10-foot waves crash on shore is amazing and breathtaking!

  721. My favorite beach was in Cozumel! My hubby and I were just dating at the time, but we spent a week in Cozumel and that is where we fell in love. The water is crystal clear and we snorkeled along the coast. It was so romantic!! I love the new necklace….it reminds me of my Cozumel week in paradise!

Nearly all of the vacations that my husband and I take are to some beach somewhere! We love going to different islands/countries just to experience their little slices of heaven that they call a beach. One of my favorites has to be where I was blessed to spend my 50th birthday–Tabyana Beach in Roatan, Honduras. This was a beautiful, calm cove with plenty of palm trees swaying in the breeze and calm, gentle waves and soft, soft sand. The perfect way & place to celebrate a new milestone in my life.

  724. Linda Snyder says:

My favorite beach is Sunset Beach on Treasure Island, FL. My dad has a condo nearby and when we go down to stay there, we always spend our days at Sunset Beach. Hope you all are well rested from your vacation.

  729. Debbie D says:

Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine is near and dear to my heart because each summer my extended family would all arrive and stay in quaint cottages by the beach of three miles of pure white, fine sand. Great forever memories were made here and shell and sand dollar collecting was at the top of the list of daily activities. This necklace is a perfect testimonial to this treasure time.

  763. Cassie says:

Sandy Shores, Waterbury, Connecticut. 764. Nancy says:

The Cove in La Jolla, CA. We used to live in La Jolla, and I still have dreams about it 20 years later. It’s the one place that you can go back to, 10 years later, and it is still as beautiful and just as you remembered it.

This necklace is a lovely reminder of happy moments in my life. All are enjoyable and special in their own, little way, but I’d have to say that Navarre Beach, FL was my favorite. The “Emerald” coastline in Florida is unbeatable in beauty and population. If you visit before the busy season, it is so peaceful and not crowded at all! The blue/green water is crystal clear, and the sand is like sugar….perfect for a natural foot exfoliant! It’s the most relaxing, enjoyable, and appealing beach I’ve ever experienced. Your “found by the seashore” necklace embodies these sweet memories sure to be cherished for years to come.

Since my dad passed away I love going there because of all the memories and the fact that dad had a navy burial and as he said when I am gone and in heaven do not dwell on a grave go to any body of water and you will be with me. I still draw back to hilton head, I have a picture on out family room wall of him walking into the ocean with the sunset ahead of him I miss and love him and LOVE going to the ocean to spend time with him.

My favorite beach is the shores of Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone National Park. It was one of our firsts stop when we visited Yellowstone. It was so beautiful, and later we took a boat ride and learned some interesting stuff and got to see beautiful scenery. Plus if you visit the Yellowstone Inn you can sit in a common area and look out on the lake (surrounded by mountains) and if your luck you may be able to listen to a string quartet (which we got to). It is a beautiful lake, but not so much for swimming! Just a hare to cold! :)

  796. shana says:

Nauset Beach, Cap Cod, Mass . . . where we went for our honeymoon

  797. Angela Smith says:

My favorite beach is Pawleys Island SC. Definitely a family beach. Lmmer homes becauseots of new and old quaint homes. Was used by the plantation owner for summer homes because of the oppressive heat in the South. This year there are 14 of my sweet family staying in on older low country home on the creek where there will be tons of fidhing for the boys. We will spend plenty of time on the beach but the best memories eill be made by all of us being tovether. Kids grands ranging from 26 years to 2 mos. And the first great grand. Now that is the beach. AND we have been doing this in same area since I was a little girl and now I am the grandmother.

  798. Jan Bonino says:

Virginia Beach is my fav! We have lived here for 9 years now and I am still constantly amazed that the Lord brought us here and I can go to the beach whenever I want. It is a very family friendly beach with lots of FREE entertainment. Our whole family loves it!

Brigantine Beach in New Jersey. It’s an island off the coast of Atlatic City, NJ. Most beautiful beach I have ever seen – not a lot of people know about the island which makes it that much more special to those who do!

I live within 1hr of Cape Cod, I have to say my favorite beach would be Old Silver, it isn’t fancy, but I took the kids there while they were growing up. It is so nice to hop in the car and go!!!! My children are all grown up now, but we still make time for the beach. It is hands down one of my special places.
