board games.

It’s super hot outside, so there has been alot of board game playing at our house lately.
Our kids love Risk, Monopoly, Pictionary, Parcheesi, Rummikub…
and just this weekend our friend Tate introduced us to Settlers of Catan
surprisingly, we are hooked!
(by the looks of it I didn’t think I’d like it much, but Tate was right, it’s fun!)

I’m in search of some new games for us to play,
what’s your family’s favorite board games?

A new game we’ve been introduced to that we love is a card game – Five Crowns. We also love the dice game – Farkle!
    Have fun and stay cool!

  2. Marissa says:

Carcassone is one of our favorites for all age levels… It’s also abvalible for iPad and iPhone.

  3. karly says:

Ticket to Ride, Europe version……but the American version is fun, too. the game board and card art is so beautiful, and it is a super fun game!!

  4. Dottie says:

We like the old classics like Scrabble and Clue – but those are possibly better for kids who are a little older than yours are right now. Your list looks great just the way it is!!

  5. Suzanne says:

Agricola is fun, if you like Settlers. My hubby’s family loves Settlers, and I have never had much luck ~ because they play it so much, and no one wanted to tell me how to play. So I really like Agricola. And there is even a nice app that calculates your final score for you. It has to be awesome if it takes an app to tell you who won :)

  6. Lindsey says:

We’ve been playing Ticket to Ride a lot lately…it’s so much fun! Also a great help with geography.

    • Erin says:

This sounds interesting, would love to add some geography learning into a fun game! I’ll look into this one!

      • Lindsey says:

I’ve spent the last 3 night dreaming about how i’m going to make my routes in Ticket to Ride. I think maybe i need to stop playing before bed.

  7. I like Apples to Apples and Balderdash.

  8. Mary says:

Apples to Apples, definitely. At first it’s hard to get, but my family started playing it on a stormy day at the vacation condo – teens/early 20′s nephews, nieces, myself & my sister (40′s), Grandpa and Grandma (70′s) and the giggles turn to hysterical laughter! Don’t know if we were playing it quite right, but all ages will have a good time!

  9. nik says:

Oldies for sure…Clue, Uno and Pokeno. :)

  10. joanne says:

Mexican Train Game…..played with Dominoes. One game and you will be absolutely HOOKED for life! Good for all ages, lots can play at one time and easy to learn. Have fun!
