I remember visiting my Aunt in a nursing home and she loved singing this song and it always brought a smile to my face and it always makes me think of her.
I got pregnant at the age of 16, and I had my daughter a couple months after I turned 17. At 20, I may be a young mother, but she is the best thing to have ever happened to me, and I have absolutely no regrets. I love her so much, and she is definitely the sunshine in my world.

I must say that my fiance is my sunshine. After a very, let’s say challenging, first marriage, I never thought I would find someone that I would be able to open up to so much. He’s taught me to smile and trust again. We met about a month before I moved out of state and he never flinched about giving a long distance relationship a try. For over a year and a half, we flew between Virginia and Louisiana at least once a month and spoke on the phone and texted every single day. He would call me every morning to wake me and often did so by singing “You are my sunshine”. He used to (and still does) sing to me via text message and when he ‘sings” “You are my sunshine” to me, he always uses little icons and smiles instead of spelling everything out. Its so dorky but so cute and brings me the biggest smile. He has definitely brought a great deal of light back into my life and at the same time as he has brought me a great deal of happiness, he has helped me to find much joy and sunshine in life in general agian.
My 21 month old daughter is my little sunshine. She is always so happy and loving. It’s hard to feel down when she smiles at you. Also in 4 weeks we will be having another sunshine added into our lives!
When my husband and I were dating, I used to call him “Sunshine.” I don’t do that anymore.. although maybe I will start up again now that I have been reminded of it. And now that we have a daughter (5 months), I sing “You Are My Sunshine” to her when she is upset and it instantly calms her down.

We have always been close – last December she turned 50 – in January she had a double mastectomy and is currently going through weekly chemo treatments – she is halfway finished as of today. She is the strongest and most optimistic person I know, and not just because she is my sister and has cancer, she just amazing. So right now my sister is my sunshine and my hero!

My 14week old baby girl, Emmalynn, is my sunshine! She had made my life whole! I have been married 10.5 years and helped my husband raise his 3 wonderful children, who now have given us 3 beautiful grandsons! Emmalynn has completed our family and made it whole! This is really tough for me because I have 2 children, numerous friends, and 2 sisters. I think my “Sunshine” would be my sister, Connie though. She is my best pal, my baby sister, and she can make me laugh at even the dumbest things.
Oh my Gosh – “You Are My Sunshine” is my 2 children’s “song”! It was the first song I sang to both of them and the song I have sung whenever they are upset or hurt. My poor 4 year old son broke his elbow 2 weeks ago, and as the dr was setting the cast and my little one was screaming, I sang “You are My Sunshine” to take his mind off the pain. It’s funny – it’s not a happy song (it’s about not having a loved one there) but it’s so beautiful and both my children always ask me to sing it – even at 7 and 4 years old.

I was in a really bad relationship for seven years, that ended in nothing but misery. I finally got out and my daughter and i were saved by god and he sent an angel to keep us safe. My sunshine is Jesus! One of my earliest childhood memories is of visiting a nursing home with our school class. We sang a bunch of songs but this is the one I remember. Even when I was young, it made me tear up. My husband & I managed retirement communities for the last four years and he is a singer. He would sing for the residents and this would always be the last song. It is truly one of my favorites and has become one of our favorites over the years. My Husband, 4 amazing kiddos, family and friends are my Sunshine. I am thankful for each one of them everyday for the ray of light they are in my life.
I’ve been singing “you are my sunshine” to my 5 yr old since she was a tiny baby & now in the midst of some troubling times she is definitely the sunshine in my life.
I used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to my kids when they were little, it was always so adorable when they sang along with me. Now my older son’s nickname for his wife is Sunshine because she makes his world so bright. Love your necklace!
So my name is Sunny and needless to say, my momma sang “You are my Sunshine” to me all the time and now I love to sing it to my children! It is one of my favorites, so whether I win this or not, I think I will for sure need this necklace! My little ones are MY SUNSHINE!!

I would sing this song to my son everyday when he was little. He is 12 now an it it still our favorite song. He is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and will always be my Sunshine!!!
My youngest daughter used to sing the song “You Are My Sunshine” when she was a toddler, inserting our names in it (you are my mommy, my only mommy, . . . ) One of the sweetest times was when her great-grandmother was visiting from California and she sang it to her—made us all a bit teary. Plus, we live in Louisiana and it is the state song!!

My daughter, Abigail, is my Sunshine! I’ve sung this song to her since she was born. She is now 12. When she’s, upset, I would sing it to her. My Papaw also loved the song. He would sing it. I have been searching for a Sunshine necklace. This one is it!! I love, love, love it!!

My dad is my sunshine! He used to sing this to my older brother and sister when we would go on “beat hunts” (which consisted of my dad putting stuffed animals in the trees around our neighborhood) every night when we would go on walks. My sunshine…Although i have three children and an amazing husband, I would like to say that I would love to be able to give this to my “sunshine” girl. She is my “middle” child, soon to be 12yrs this coming 16th of june, with my baby girl following 10yrs behind her. She has been such an amazing, patient daughter, little sister, and big sister. God trusted and blessed me with a beautiful baby 3 1/2 years ago. She was a few days old and as we were trying out her new rocking glider, I started singing, “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…” I immediately bursted into tears and couldn’t finish singing the song. The reality of who she was and that she was mine, was so overwhelming and amazing! I still sing that song, and now to my 7 month old as we are rocking to sleep!
